QUALITY ASSURANCE ENGINEER


The Quality Assurance Engineer will have a good understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle and disciplined Software Engineering Processes. The Quality Assurance Engineer will have the ability to learn and adapt to the Software Test Processes. The Quality Assurance Engineer will perform duties such as development and execution of manual and automated test cases, and defect documentation.

The Quality Assurance Engineer will participate in all aspects of the established software test process. As part of this participation the Quality Assurance Engineer is expected to identify and recommend areas of test process improvement. The Quality Assurance Engineer is a Product team member who contributes to the overall quality of customer products.

Location- Alpahretta, GA

Job Duties

  • Emphasis in manual testing.
  • Perform assigned test and evaluation activities which include writing test plans, developing test cases, executing test plans and writing test reports.
  • Identify and suggest improvements to the test and evaluation process that will either improve product quality, and/or reduce cycle time.
  • Willing to assist test engineers in other test and evaluation activities and in implementing improvements to the test and evaluation process.
  • Effectively articulate technical issues to testers, developers, and managers.
  • Maintain effective communication with Developers, the Software Test Manager, and other Development and Product personnel to ensure that relevant information is shared in a timely manner.
  • Work with Development and Product Team members to investigate and reproduce possible test defects.
  • Work cooperatively with members of the technical staff to track, document and resolve all software defects in a timely manner.
  • Assist in the development of test schedules and resource estimates.
  • Manage time and priorities in an effort to meet all established testing schedules and deadlines.
  • Plan from beginning to end with some supervision the execution of multiple tasks.
  • Participate effectively in weekly team meetings.
  • Ability to perform SQL queries in relational databases.

Required Attributes

  • Minimum of 5 years software test experience.
  • Experience in Microsoft Windows environments (NT/2000/XP).
  • Experience in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
  • Knowledge of relational databases SQL.
  • Must be able to demonstrate an ability to learn our products, as required, to perform effective product validation.
  • Must be able to receive instruction and execute based on that instruction.
  • Familiarity with defect tracking tools.
  • Must be knowledgeable about the SDLC.
  • Continue to improve the software development and testing process to ensure high quality applications.
  • Proven experience with testing methodologies.
  • Working knowledge of database applications and client-server technology is required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.

Desirable Requirements

  • Understanding of GPS.
  • Load and Stress testing experience.
  • Experience using VS Testing Team Edition.
