BOARD OF DIRECTORS
Omnilink Systems has assembled a Board of Directors that provides the company with the unique skills and guidance to continue to grow and succeed in a wide range of markets where GPS tracking, electronic monitoring and location-based services platforms are becoming standard operating tools. The members of the Omnilink Board of Directors have a broad range of experience in building technology companies that compete in all types of markets in both the public and private sectors.
James Armstrong
Chairman of the BoardJim Armstrong co-founded JDA Software in 1985 and serves as Chairman of the Board. Mr. Armstrong founded JDA Software Services Ltd. of Canada in 1978, which grew to be one of the largest Canadian IBM Midrange software firms. He sold the Canadian company in 1985 when he formed the U.S.-based JDA Software and then re-purchased it in 1996. Mr. Armstrong has previously held operations, programming, and management positions in varied business environments. He is a member of the Arizona State University Foundation Board of Trustees and studied engineering at Ryerson Polytechnic Institute in Toronto, Ontario. The Armstrong Family Foundations, founded in 1996 by Jim & Jo-Ann Armstrong, have donated over $5 million to more than 60 non-profit, educational and services organizations.
Kelly Gay
Chief Executive OfficerKelly Gay is the past Chairman, CEO and President of KnowledgeStorm, an online media company providing search, lead generation, and marketing services to global technology organizations. She joined KnowledgeStorm in February 2000, leading the company from start-up to annual sales of $20 million in less than seven years, and from a significant operating loss to profitability. KnowledgeStorm was acquired by TechTarget , a public media company serving the technology industry, in late 2007.
Prior to joining KnowledgeStorm, Kelly led IBM in the entertainment, publishing, printing, advertising, broadcast, cable and sports markets as Vice President of IBM's North American Media and Entertainment division. Under her leadership, this business unit grew to $1.2 billion in sales, with 18% annual growth over a three-year period.
Kelly serves on the boards of directors of the Bank of Atlanta, 1105 Media, ReachForce, Ashworth College, the Board of Directors Network, and the Georgia Department of Driver Services (DDS). She serves the Atlanta technology community through initiatives like the Advanced Technology Development Center CapVenture program. After ten years of board service to the Technology Association of Georgia (TAG), she continues to work on the selection committee for the TAG Top 40/Top 10 Innovative Company Competition, the State of the Industry Report, the Georgia Research Alliance/TAG Business Launch, and Connecting Georgia.
Kelly was recognized by Pathbuilders as a 2009 Inspiria Award winner. In 2007, she was named to the BtoB Media Business Who’s Who 100 in Business Publishing and Catalyst’s Top 25 Atlanta Entrepreneurs. Prior to this, Kelly was chosen by Catalyst as one of Atlanta's Top 50 Entrepreneurs in 2002, 2003, 2004, and 2005. She was spotlighted in Atlanta Woman as a Leader to Watch and Business to Business as an Atlanta Diva. She was also recognized by the Atlanta Business Chronicle in the annual Who's Who in Technology for four consecutive years, and was honored with the Atlanta Women’s Foundation Shining Star award for her leadership in the industry and commitment to mentoring women in technology.
Kelly is a magna cum laude graduate of Newcomb College of Tulane University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics.
Stephen Fredrick
Steve Fredrick is a General Partner at Grotech Capital Group, which he joined in 2005. At Grotech, Mr. Fredrick focuses on investment opportunities in the software, communications, and IT services sectors. Mr. Fredrick has been actively involved with several portfolio companies including Hillcrest Labs. Prior to joining Grotech, he was a Partner with Novak Biddle Venture Partners investing in early stage software and communications equipment companies. Mr. Fredrick previously co-founded a software development firm and worked for a venture-funded software startup until it was acquired. He spent his early career at IBM in research and development roles. Mr. Fredrick graduated, Magna Cum Laude, from Virginia Tech with Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in Electrical Engineering. He has served for several years as an Adjunct Professor of Entrepreneurship at the University of Maryland’s Smith School of Business.
Frank Pinto
Frank Pinto is managing general partner of Eastern Growth Capital LP, a growth capital private equity fund in New England. He is also a managing member of the general partner for Penn Ventures, LLC, a growth capital equity fund in Pennsylvania licensed by the US Small Business Administration. Mr. Pinto has over 25 years of entrepreneurial and investment experience. He has been the CEO of the state of Massachusetts venture capital fund, a partner at Boston Millennia Partners, a $700mm venture capital fund and the founder and CEO of two private companies. Mr. Pinto has an MBA from the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College and a BA from Middlebury College.
Dendy Young
Dendy Young is the Managing Partner of McLean Capital, LLC, a private equity firm based in McLean, VA focused on government information technology. From January 1996 to February 2006, Mr. Young was Chief Executive Officer of GTSI Corp. (NASDAQ: GTSI) an enterprise services and solutions provider. Additionally, he served as Chairman of the Board from 1998 until May 2007. Prior to GTSI, Mr. Young served as Chief Executive Officer of Falcon Microsystems, Inc., the second of two companies he founded and sold between 1981 and 1994. In less than 10 years, Falcon Microsystems grew to be a nationally recognized, multi-platform federal reseller and integrator before being sold to GTSI in August 1994. Mr. Young holds a S.B. in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and an M.B.A. from the Harvard Business School.
